Our Founders
Lahaina Mae Mondoñedo | Lahaina is the co-founder of Every Person Run Club, a DC-based running community built on inclusivity and camaraderie. A marketing and events professional, Lahaina is passionate about amplifying unheard voices and creating memorable experiences that connect people. When she’s not organizing events or crafting campaigns, she’s likely running on the National Mall or Navy Yard boardwalk or taking a workout class, embracing the athlete’s mindset that drives her in every aspect of life. Mike Yasson | Dr. Mike Yasson, DPT, CSCS, ART, is the founder of Big League Performance + Rehab, a lifestyle therapy brand, and co-founder of Every Person Run Club. Growing up in New York with a passion for sports, Mike discovered his calling in physical therapy after a baseball injury sidelined his own athletic dreams. He fell in love with running while serving as a lululemon ambassador, embracing the community and movement it fosters. Mike founded Big League to bring professional-level care to athletes of all abilities, making it the home base for EPRC’s Sunday runs. When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll find him running around Capitol Hill or out on a boat with his wife in Annapolis. Instagram: @dr.mikeyasson
Scott Luther | Scott is one of the co-founders of Every Person Run Club, having been a part from the beginning when he and Dr. Mike would hit the streets of DC looking for a run club in town that offered something for everyone, no matter their experience with running. Scott is a part of the lululemon family and moved back to Boston a short time ago. He is an avid runner, having run 5 Boston Marathons and just completed his second London Marathon. Still involved with EPRC, Scott loves visiting the DMV to connect with friends and the team. His favorite run route in DC is Navy Yard to Capitol Hill, hit the monuments, the National Mall, and loop it back around. Instagram: @scottrunsbos
Tony Kostreski | Tony is one of the co-founders of Every Person Run Club, having witnessed the community’s incredible growth from its inception. Inspired by his partner Lahaina’s vision and his own passion for running, Tony firmly believes in the power of running together to foster motivation, camaraderie, and belonging. As a landscape architect, he finds running to be the ultimate way to discover and connect with any city. When he’s not pounding the pavement, Tony enjoys playing soccer, biking, or exploring museums. His favorite running spots in DC are the National Mall and Constitution Gardens. Instagram: @tnykoski
Our Captains
Melissa Brashear | Melissa (Mel) began running in 2015 when a friend peer pressured her into signing up for a half marathon. She finished the Marine Corps Marathon as her first marathon four years later and since then has completed seven additional marathons including international races in Paris, Valencia, and Athens. Fun fact, in a true run club love story, Mel met her husband at a local DC run club and got engaged right after she finished the Chicago Marathon. She also recently obtained her run coach certification with RRCA. Mel grew up horseback riding and is still in her "horse girl era." When she is not logging miles on the road, you can find her at the barn or competing in local jumper shows. Instagram: @melbrashear42
Amanda Henderson | Amanda began running in 2015 after her mom signed her entire family up for a 5K - an effort to bond that unexpectedly sparked a lifelong habit. Running became essential for managing her stress and supporting Amanda's mental health. Her most loyal running companion is her Irish Doodle, Walter. When she's not running, Amanda can be found swimming, biking, or adventuring around the DMV with Walter and her newly rescued Labradoodle, Clifford. Amanda is exploring her triathlete-side and is training for her first full Ironman in 2026. Her favorite place to run in DC is through Rock Creek Park. Instagram: @manderrlyn
Sharon Schwei | Sharon came to EPRC in early 2023, as she was looking for a group that welcomed beginners. Now, a full 180 from where she started, Sharon is hooked on running. Most recently, she ran her first full marathon in Athens, Greece. In 2025, Sharon ran The Speed Project France from Chamonix to Marseille, and in 2026 will take on her second TSP running from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. When she’s not running, you can catch Sharon cheering on the Caps and the Nats with her husband Daniel, knitting or crocheting, and volunteering as an adoption coordinator with Beagle Rescue Education and Welfare. Sharon is also a member of the CUCB Race Committee, and co-host of the CUCB Podcast Blossom Banter. Instagram: @sharbear914
Meagan Kelly | Meagan moved to DC, from Boston, in 2023. EPRC was the perfect fit to connect her to her new city after leaving behind a large running community. The half marathon is her favorite distance, and she’s currently nearing the finish line on her quest to run a half in every state. She’s run over 70 half marathons, in addition to 8 marathons. Her favorite place to run in DC is the National Mall at sunset and she avoids Hains Point at all costs. When she’s not running, you can find her reading on her roof deck, perusing her local farmers market or trying out a new recipe. Instagram: @bostongirlontherun
James Harris: James is relatively new to distance running, having transitioned from several years of CrossFit. He trained for and completed his first half marathon in the spring of 2024 and has since become passionate about running. James especially enjoys supporting newcomers at the EPRC and finds his favorite moments in running when he loses track of pace and distance, fully immersing himself in the experience. His favorite places to run in DC are the Wharf and around the Tidal Basin. When he's not running, James can be found cheering on the Spirit or the Nationals, cooking, fly fishing, or researching the latest running gear. Instagram: @jamesvharris
Ashley Porter | Ashley started running several years ago when one of her students organized a 5K fundraiser. (Before that, she and running were not friends.) That has since turned into running a dozen half marathons, completing the New York City Marathon as a part of Team TCS Teachers, and volunteering with Ulman Cancer to 5K each spring to support cancer survivors in training for a race. Some of Ashley’s favorite things about EPRC include sweeping and having great yaps along the way, participating in the club’s epic cheer stations, and getting to be a part of EPRC’s kind, welcoming, enthusiastic community. To find her at an EPRC run, just look for a ridiculously bright running outfit. Instagram: @thirtysevenpiecesofflair
Abhishek Tayal | Abhishek is relatively new to running, but in just over a year with EPRC, his perspective has completely changed. What once felt intimidating has become something he genuinely enjoys. With the club’s encouragement, he went from running his first 5K to completing his first half marathon and eventually his first full marathon—all within a year! EPRC has shown him the incredible power of running as a community and how much can be achieved through mutual support. Instagram: @abhitayal
